Integrative psychiatry is an approach to mental health care that combines conventional psychiatric treatments with complementary and alternative therapies. It emphasizes treating the whole person, considering their physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. This approach recognizes that mental health issues often have complex underlying causes and may benefit from a multifaceted treatment approach.
I am a nurse practitioner who has a DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice), and who is board certified as a PMHNP (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a AGPCNP (Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner). This means that I have advanced education and expertise in three key areas: psychiatric-mental health nursing, adult and gerontology primary care, and leadership in nursing practice. I am qualified to provide specialized care to individuals with psychiatric disorders and mental health concerns, as well as primary care services to adult and older adult populations, while also contributing to the advancement of nursing practice through evidence-based care and leadership.
As a doctorate-prepared nurse practitioner and certified as a PMHNP and AGPCNP, I am uniquely positioned to provide holistic psychiatric care. By integrating physical, mental, and social aspects of health, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, offering psychotherapy and medication management, and prioritizing person-centered and culturally sensitive approaches, I can deliver comprehensive and individualized care to support the overall well-being of my patients across the lifespan.

A mental health emergency occurs when an individual experiences severe psychological distress or displays behaviors posing immediate danger to themselves or others, such as suicidal or homicidal ideations/plans, severe psychosis, or uncontrollable agitation. It necessitates urgent intervention to ensure safety and well-being. In such situations, contacting emergency services or crisis intervention teams is crucial for immediate assessment and support. Recognizing and responding promptly to signs of a mental health emergency can help prevent harm and facilitate access to appropriate treatment and assistance.
