As a Christian, wife, mother of two, pet owner, and someone who has faced mental health challenges, my experiences have shaped my approach to practice. Balancing work, family, and education, I deeply understand the daily pressures of life. My journey with postpartum depression and social anxiety, treated through both traditional and holistic methods, has given me valuable insight into mental wellness and its management. I strive to create a therapeutic space that respects individual perspectives on traditional medication while integrating holistic solutions for personalized care. 


SELF-CARE

As a mental health professional, I prioritize self-care and its positive impact on overall well-being. I advocate for taking time for oneself, whether through travel, family time, exercise or self-pampering. These activities contribute to a balanced life and improved mental health. I encourage patients to prioritize self-care for stress management and happiness. I'm excited to support you on your mental wellness journey!   

CREDENTIALS

  

  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of North Florida
  • Master's in Nursing from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University
  • Bachelor's in Nursing from Florida International University
  • Double board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
  • 20+ years of experience in healthcare
  • Worked as nurse practitioner in outpatient clinical settings for 10+ years
  • Incorporated and managed projects in community health clinics aimed at educating patients on plant-based diet to help decrease chronic illnesses.

 

MY INSPIRATIONS

THE BLUE ZONES

The "Blue Zones" are regions worldwide where people live significantly longer and healthier lives than the global average. One such Blue Zone includes the Seventh-day Adventists of Loma Linda, California. As a Seventh-day Adventist, I deeply appreciate the mental health benefits embedded in our lifestyle, mirroring those found in other Blue Zones.


Our emphasis on a plant-based diet and abstinence from alcohol and tobacco not only nourish the body but also strengthen mental resilience. Regular physical activity, strong social connections, a shared sense of purpose, and our Christian faith all contribute to overall well-being and mental wellness.


Through these practices, I experience strength, clarity, and a profound sense of belonging—echoing the resilience and longevity seen in Blue Zone communities like ours.

THE HEALTH PRINCIPLES

  1. Nutrition – A more plant-based diet rich in whole foods supports overall health, including mental well-being. 
  2. Exercise – Regular physical activity strengthens the body and mind.
  3. Water – Staying hydrated aids digestion, circulation, and detoxification.
  4. Sunlight – Natural sunlight boosts mood, immunity, and vitamin D levels.
  5. Temperance – Moderation and avoiding harmful substances protect our minds and promote wellness.
  6. Air – Fresh air enhances lung function and mental clarity.
  7. Rest – Quality sleep restores the body and mind.
  8. Trust in God – Faith provides peace, purpose, and resilience.
